Icelandic Glacial tees up Official water sponsor deal for the KLM Open golf tournament in the Netherlands

Icelandic Glacial is proud to announce that it will be the Official water sponsor for the KLM Dutch Open held at the Kennemer Golf & Country Club in the Netherlands from August 10th-13th.

Icelandic Glacial will ensure pure hydration of the players and staff at this year’s Open Championship of the Netherlands by supplying bottled water in fully branded water coolers on alternative tees. Players will also be refreshed as they warm up on the driving range & putting greens at an event that will be broadcast 300million homes worldwide in 26 countries.

Kristjan Olafsson, Sales Director and co-founder of Icelandic Glacial commented on the sponsorship deal, “We are very excited to be involved with the 2006 KLM Open at the Kennemer as Official water sponsor and look forward to a successful event”.

As the race for Ryder Cup points enters its final stages, this years event has attracted top names including 8-time European Order of Merit winner Colin Montgomerie, along with this years Ryder Cup Captain, Ian Woosnam and other rising stars of the European tour, who will be competing for one of the oldest trophies in European Golf.

Local hopes lie with successful European Tour Player, Maarten Lafeber, who has also recently agreed a deal with Icelandic Glacial to promote the brand in a series of on and off course promotional events.

Netherlands distributor, Pieter Oosthoek, of Kruytbergh Food Service added, “we are very pleased with this sponsorship as it not only increases the awareness of Icelandic and its relevancy for the consumer, but it also demonstrates our sales partners that we invest in a long term position. After the strong start we had in the Netherlands with listing with the market leader in Petrol (Shell) and in Wholesale (Sligro), we are confident that this will support our distribution rapidly as consumers will start asking for our product”.
